Memory Project; Syria

Memory Project Year 2!

A friend of mine coordinates a fantastic charity opportunity called the Memory Project. I've contributed to it this year and last year! Artists from around the world create portraits of children. These children are displaced, orphaned, and/or in a war zone. The point of the portrait is to not only connect us to those youth on the other side of the world, but it gives them a material possession as well as a record of themselves. A baby picture. A picture in time. This young teen is from Syria.

His name is Khalid. His favorite color is red. Thats all the information I have on him. This portrait will be sent back to the organization soon. Spent around 2 hours on this/Photoshop.

This is the one from last year. I did a different approach - graphite and photoshop brush texture. This is Bethlehem from Africa. Her favorite color was purple or blue.
